Lauren Robinson hopes spirit of festival will find a home in the valley
Aug 16-20, Invermere –
In anticipation of the upcoming Columbia Valley Chamber Music Festival, we are presenting biographies of each of the six artists who will be performing in two concerts, August 16th and 20th at 8pm at Christ Church Trinity, Invermere. We are immensely honored to have such talent come to our valley.

Born and raised in Pennsylvania, Lauren Robinson grew up talking, whistling, singing, laughing –- in short, making noise. In grade four, her elementary school’s band director recognized that she had “the personality of a horn player” and set her on a formal music track.
After spending many years annoying her family and neighbors with her practicing, she received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Delaware where she studied with Cynthia Carr and her master’s degree from the University of Wisconsin in Madison where she studied with Douglas Hill. She rounded out her expensive and largely performance-based education with a Professional Studies Certificate from Temple University where she studied with Adam Unsworth of the Philadelphia Orchestra.
Still unsure whether her elementary band director’s comment was a compliment or not, Lauren resides in Philadelphia, where she is a teaching artist for the Philadelphia Orchestra’s School Partnership Program. She is an active private horn teacher and coaches chamber music at Settlement Music School.
Also an active freelance musician, Lauren performs regularly with many groups in the greater Philadelphia area including the Opera Company of Philadelphia, the Ocean City Pops, the Reading Symphony Orchestra, the Pennsylvania Ballet Orchestra, and many others. She has performed as an extra musician with the Philadelphia Orchestra and at the Tanglewood Music Center.
In addition to continually annoying her neighbors with her noise-making, Ms. Robinson also enjoys cooking, yoga, and spending time with her husband Jeff.
