250-387-4363

Just 14 hectares in size, James Chabot Provincial Park offers a wealth of recreation for everyone in the family. A broad sandy beach rims the shore of the lake for great swimming and making sandcastles. There is an adventure playground and volleyball court in the open grassy play area, providing hours of fun for everyone plus clean, wheel-chair accessible washrooms, change rooms. cold running water and picnic tables. There is also plenty of RV-accessible parking.

The large, open lake is popular for a lot more more than swimming. Boating, water skiing, tubing, canoeing, fishing, kayaking and windsurfing are enjoyed by many. The adjacent Columbia wetland is a great place for paddling, bird and wildlife watching and photographing. In the park the short, 350m wheelchair-accessible Dragonfly Boardwalk is an interpretive pathway which takes the visitor very close to the wetland marsh. There are information signs placed along the trail, explaining the wetland habitat and wildlife.

James Chabot Provincial Park is the venue for the annual Lakeside Event, a hang-gliding and para-gliding competition.  Contestants fly off nearby Mount Swansea and try to land within various targets in the water and on the land.  Many community events such as paddleboard races, the annual Heart of the Rockies Triathlon and the Lake Windermere Open Water Swim take place there. The park is also an excellent venue for family and group picnics,
